Squad update

After the conclusion of the 2023-24 season we’ve been in discussions with the squad and are now in a position to give you an update. We caught up with David Fish who told us, “The end of the season is always a busy time, often busier than at any point during the season.

“It’s also a difficult time as players with whom you have developed a relationship are released. Such decisions are never easy but after a disappointing season last season I needed to make some changes.

“Andy Keogh, Kane Hickman and Josh Dickin gave their all for the club during their time here and were popular in the dressing room and in the terraces. They leave with my best wishes for future success having all played a big part in my four years at the club.

“Negotiations were held with all other players and most have agreed terms and will be joining us for pre-season. There are two notable exceptions; Ben Darby has received an offer to join a team from several divisions higher for preseason and wants to give himself the opportunity to step-up, and Jack Banister has decided that after almost three seasons with the club he needs a change of scenery and a new challenge. I’m disappointed to see both leave, but equally I understand their reasoning and they leave on good terms.

“With several players having departed I have also been busy speaking with a number of targets and am very confident of landing a mix of players with experience at this level and exciting younger players making the step up who will fit our style of play.”
