Lilywhites team up with ReCreate and Incredible Edible Mossley for community garden space

We are delighted to announce we have teamed up with local groups ReCreate and Incredible Edible Mossley to develop a vibrant and colourful garden space for the community to enjoy.

In line with our whole club strategy, we have been looking at a variety of additional ways to get close to the heart of the community and make the best use of our facilities for the benefit of all. As a result of this process, we identified a space to turn into a community garden with support from local groups and primary schools.

After some hard work completing ground clearance and preparations, we are now ready for these amazing volunteer groups to take the reigns and transform the space.

On announcing this exciting project, club Director James Bull said “I am really excited to see this idea become a reality. Mossley AFC want to work hard to continue to develop closer links to the heart of this fantastic local community. Ever since we muted the idea a few weeks ago the passion and dedication from volunteers from ReCreate and Incredible Edibles has been infectious. This, coupled with amazing generosity from local businesses, has made it possible and I cannot wait to support in delivering a beautiful community space.”

We would also like to thank several local businesses for their generous support in getting the area ready to hand over: Quick Edge Plant Hire, who lent us a digger and their labour for the day; H Mullaney & Son Ltd for use of their skips to remove rocks, roots and general garden waste; MDR Autos, who gave us tyres for edging and planters; Palletman & Sons Ltd and Grandpa Greene’s for giving us pallets for planters. Your help in getting this fantastic community project is very much appreciated.
