Alan ‘Bomber’ Brown – 1949-2022
We’re heartbroken to have to announce the passing of Mossley Legend, Alan ‘Bomber’ Brown.
Alan will forever be etched into Lilywhites folklore having represented our club an incredible 446 times over 11 seasons from 1970 to 1981, placing him second in the all-time appearance list.
Signing from Bradford Park Avenue, ‘Bomber’ started his career as a right winger, scoring a brace on his debut and quickly establishing himself as a fans’ favourite. Over the years, he converted to a right-back and was known for his fierce tackling and constant energy to get up and down the pitch.
Winner of the ‘Supporters’ player of the season’ in 1979, he also won two Northern Premier League Championship Titles and started in the 1980 FA Trophy final.
Alan ‘Bomber’ Brown will forever be a true Mossley AFC legend and he will be dearly missed by everyone at the club. Our thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time.
